Was involved in a minor accident just outside Newton Circus hawker centre just because of people who apparently did not have brains - both left AND right ones. To allow you to visualize more clearly, please refer to the simple diagram above that I've done up. The red rectangle represents the taxi, the arrows are where other lanes are and the yellow part the area on the
pavement where passengers are usually dropped off or picked up from Newton Circus hawker centre.
As can be seen, the taxi was like in the middle of nowhere. It had already stopped since dunno when.. when A's bike approached and wanted to move along the space on the left of the taxi so that he could turn into the carpark which was also on the left ahead. Now, as a cab driver, if you wanna let passengers alight, you should stop just beside the pavement right? And not in the middle of the lane. It's NOT your grandfather's or other ancestor's road ok idiot? Now, since the taxi has stopped there for some time, how were we supposed to know any passenger's going to alight and not the taxi driver waiting to pick people up?
Then the "BEST" thing happened. That stupid girl actually opened the taxi door w/o checking to see if any vehicles were approaching from the back. SUCH STUPIDITY!!!! It was too late for A to react and when that girl opened the door, my calf scrapped against the corner of the opened door. Normally if a person where to brush against the corner of an opened door, there wouldn't be any problem. But definitely not when you're on a moving bike ok?
Thank goodness I was wearing a spandex material track pants. Even then, after getting home, then I realized how serious the bruise was. It stretched from the mid-length of my calf all the way up to my knee. It's one whole STRETCH of swollen patch. I didn't know it's that bad at that point in time just that there was a stinging sensation plus a stretch of bump so I thought it's a slight abrasion of some sort. Surprisingly, my pants at that area didn't tear or I would definitely asked the girl to pay for it.
And you know what? She didn't even approach to apologize when A stopped his bike about 5m infront of the cab after the door hit my leg. Being super furious, I turned around and shouted and made some hand gesture towards them. Didn't do any vulgar sign though (maybe I shld have towards such idiots..). I wasn't wearing glasses at that time but A later said the girl (whom I guess was maybe in her early 20s) made the apologetic sign (like the salute kind of shit...). Please lah, what's the point of doing that? The taxi driver just looked at me when I made the hand gesture towards them and then he drove off after the girl alighted.
Can you believe them? If I had known how swollen my calf was going to be, I would have gotten down the bike and gone to the taxi to yell at them. I'm sure there were eyewitnesses who saw what exactly happened and I wouldn't hesitate to call the police should they try to deny anything.
Moral of the story: Do not be another idiot passenger who blindly opens the door in the middle of nowhere and endanger people's lives. Luckily the door wasn't swinged swiftly and widely. It would have been worst if the bike just ran into the opened door w/o given time to react? We would have been thrown off the bike. Taxi drivers too. Be careful about where you stop and be more responsible when something happens. Don't just drive off as if nothing has happened. I don't care if you are trying to make a living and I won't hesitate to call the police just because it'd threaten your livelihood, if you are going to be so irresponsible.
On a more superficial note, how the hell am I going to wear a dress for the xmas celebrations over the next 2 days? I look like I've been abused. *&^%&*
Oh Crap! :(
