Not too long ago, because I was craving for strawberry donuts while at Suntec, we decided to sit down at Donut Factory cafe to savour the bakes. I found it quite amusing to see patrons using forks and knives on the donuts to eat them daintily. D wanted to get forks and knives for us too but I vehemently rejected the idea because it's kind of pretentious to eat something like that with cutlery. Don't you feel that some foods are meant to be eaten using fingers. The same goes for fries too! Taste nicer (psychologically and logically too!). When donuts are cut up, they will inevitably be flattened regardless of how carefully you slice into them, much less with butter knives... It's definitely much better to hold on to the warm, fluffy donut and bite into it heartily, not caring if strawberry or melted chocolate drips or flows down your fingers. The washrooms are nearby anyway.
Actually even when I'm at places like Fish and Co. eating fish and chips, I will use my fingers to eat fries. Probably much to the chagrin of some people :P. At Long John's, I even break up the fish/ chicken into parts to eat with my fingers. They definitely taste more delicious that way! Meant to be finger food anyway hahah!Labels: Food
