It's been a long time since I've been to the island and for some reason, we decided to have a look at what's it like over there. The monorail is now known as Sentosa Express (very commercialized name). It's very much like the LRT, with not many seats but lots of room for standing. I still very much prefer the monorail of the past, which made many stops along the way and being none air-conditioned, there's an island-like raw feel to it. Furthermore, there were plenty of seats and were a lot longer than the current version.
Anyway, at present, there are only 4 stations - Sentosa Station, Future Development Station, Imbiah Station and Beach Station. "-_-. Ya, it's like, "That's it?" Not many attractions though there are new ones like the Sky Tower and the Luge & Skyride. Wanted to go on the Luge although I've been on it in New Zealand. However, it's such a horribly sunny and humid day that we figured out that the helmets that riders got to put on would be stinky with sweat. Therefore, in the end, we did not try anything. The combo price of the Luge & Skyride was $10. Not too bad a price if you've never been on a Luge before. It's a little car-like thingie which you just got to control the handles by pushing forward or pulling back (to move or stop) as you go down a gentle turning slope. It's really fun and safe. The Skyride is the kind which you sit on to go up a slope just like one of those at a ski resort whereby you ride on a bench that's moving upwards in order for you to go down the slope later on, on the Luge.
I guess all in all, it's not really worth going to Sentosa unless you specifically want to visit something or hang around at the beach. However, I believe that after 2010 when they have finished constructing the IR, it'd be a much more happening place to be at.
It was really coincidental but we actually saw a family at Sentosa whom we saw at Orchard Road just on Friday night!! The reason why we recognized them was because it's an unusual family whereby the guy's Chinese and the wife's a taller caucasian with a toddler. The guy's almost bald and the lady's got long curly hair. Hahaha... can you believe it? No, not about the baldness or the long curly hair but rather Singapore may be small but to meet strangers like this on consecutive days? A saw a friend of his at Sentosa plus a close ex-colleague too! The whole world's at Sentosa today! :P
